Many companies actually booked their 2009 party back in January to make sure that they got what they wanted, but there are still some great venues available and great deals to be struck.Christmas parties are one of the most difficult events to organise for any business; especially in a recession. Getting it right can be the difference between causing a pre-festive crisis and rewarding the whole business team for their effort and tolerance in difficult times. You can’t be too flash with the cash but you want to have some fun and frivolity.

This looks good news and a timely prompt. I will go and talk to the team and see what current thinking is. Last year we booked a bum venue, late of course, and the whole event was a wash out. Location bad, food really bad and entertainment so diabolical it added the only humour to an otherwise shameful waste of money.

Steve, I was just reading this as your comment popped up and made me smile. We did the same last year and had a horrid time; two of the managers actually had a fight at the bar! Not good for morale - or Christmas spirit. Their respective teams went to war and it took til March to get it sorted!
At the last management team meeting we discussed 2009 and whether to bother but agreed we have to get it right this year. All the help possible needed.
Same, same. Ours was so bad we are thinking of engaging someone to organise the whole thing for us this year. What a traumatic experience and I'm not sure anybody enjoyed it.
